Comtec allows agents to go mobile
Travel technology system supplier Comtec has joined forces with communications specialist 2ergo to introduce a mobile information service for travellers.
The service, which will be known as TravelCat Messaging, will allow travel agents to offer their customers booking-related travel information directly to their mobile phones and other handheld devices.
The service will work by agents asking customers if they are happy to receive the text updates and then drawing the information from the TravelCat Agency Management system.
The mobile technology is designed to save agents and increase efficiency by providing them with a fast and direct means of communicating with customers.
Customers can choose the kind of information they are interested in receiving alerts on and it ranges from booking confirmation, ticket collection details and holiday payment terms to promotional messages and personal greetings.
Comtec Europe chief executive Simon Powell said: “The customer wants to be contacted and touched in any way they feel they should. The time has gone when people walked into a branch or called a call-centre and finished the transaction the same way it was initiated.”
