Costa will add a fifth ship in Asia for next year with the deployment of the 1,800 passenger Costa neoRomantica to Shanghai.
The ship will arrive in Shanghai on April 10, 2017 after a repositioning journey from Mauritius before going into dry dock for brief renewal work to tailor to the Chinese market.
"The deployment of a fifth Costa ship in Asia in 2017, in addition to the two new fleet members that will be built specially for Costa Asia, will allow us to continue to significantly grow the Asian cruise market in particular China," said Costa Group CEO Michael Thamm.
It will be based in Asia year-round and the first journey is scheduled to depart from Shanghai on 24 April.
Costa currently has three ships, the Costa Serena, Costa Victoria and Costa Atlantica based in Asia and will be joined by the Costa Fortuna in Shanghai later this month.
