Cruise passengers get crafty
Growing numbers of passengers are turning to ‘crafters’ to learn a new skill while cruising.
Cruise and Maritime Voyages has made it a policy to have at least one crafter on board itineraries of five nights or longer.
The cruise company said more than 150 clients pre-registered for classes with a water colour artist during its recent six week Amazon and West Indies cruise.
And on some cruises two or three crafters are on board.
A spokesman said: "On a recent cruise we had to use the lounge as well as the craft room as there were so many passengers interested.
"We’ve even had a crafter on board making ladies’ evening bags out of recycled crisp packets and ring pulls from Coke cans."
