Ctrip targets London bound Chinese travellers for CNY
Chinese online travel giant Ctrip is targeting UK-bound Chinese travellers during the Lunar New Year holidays with a dedicated marketing campaign via social media platform WeChat.
Ctrip is working with Digipanda Marketing, a London based digital marketing agency which specialises in the inbound China market.
In a first of its kind campaign, Chinese visitors, mostly FITs, who booked flights or hotel stays in the UK on Ctrip, will receive promotional messages from local tourism and hospitality businesses such as retailers, restaurants, attractions and tour operators.
The London Discount Guide for Chinese New Year promotional campaign is ‘a highly targeted one and therefore can be highly effective,’ said Edward Teng, managing director of Digipanda Marketing.
Digipanda is aiming to sign up at least 40 local UK travel and tourism businesses for the campaign.
Ctrip is supporting the campaign with a commitment of at least 15,000 impressions for the London Discount Guide on its own WeChat and Weibo channels.
Ctrip has more than 65% market share in China with 300 million members.
