Customers resilient to terrorism and disasters
ABTA Convention Special report: Travellers are showing a high level of resilience to terrorism and natural disasters, new research shows.
Data released by research firm Trip Vision indicated that the double threat to travel is not as big an issue to consumers as the industry might fear.
They company’s managing director David Jones told an ABTA Travel Convention business seminar that future travel indicators demonstrated that people were not put off by terrorist attacks and disasters.
He said: “Despite terrorism and bombs in places like Egypt you’re getting a fast recovery and no impact on the future desire to travel.
“People are adjusting their destinations but you are going to see very little impact long term from terrorism in this industry.”
He described this as an opportunity for agents as customers wanted more “hand holding” and expert advice when making their holiday destination chocie.
