DBS becomes sponsor for Singapore SEA Games, dragon boat races
With a recently announced sponsorship deal worth S$3.5 million from DBS Bank, next year’s Southeast Asian Games in Singapore has surpasses S$33 million so far, inching towards the organizing committee’s target of S$50 million.
DBS Bank has been a long-time supporter of dragon boat racing in the city state and will bank roll the DBS Marina Regatta in conjunction with the Games held from May 30 to 31 at Marina Bay.
"This announcement comes 200 days before the Games and the sport of dragon boating has been closely associated with DBS," said Lim Teck Yin, chairman of SEA Games executive committee.
"Through the annual DBS Marina Regatta, DBS and the Singapore Dragon Boat Association set the standard in organising a water-sport event that incorporates a festival of community activities together with the competitive spirit of sport.
"Through this partnership, it reinforces our efforts to foster ownership among corporate Singapore and more importantly, build a legacy beyond the Games," added Lim.
The yearly National Inter-Schools Dragon Boat Championships will also be held at Marina Bay as part of the main DBS Marina Regatta.
