Death of agents ‘exaggerated’
Travel agents still sell 87% of cruises and 81% of tours and packages, evidence that “reports of their death have been greatly exaggerated,” says Post-Gazette.com.
Agents also sell a majority of airline tickets and almost half of hotel reservations, according to figures from the American Society of Travel Agents.
“Even in this electronic age,” the Post-Gazette says, “most trips are still arranged by travel agents.”
Good travel agents can find low fares, provide coherent documentation and help ensure that all the considerable details of a trip go smoothly.
“It’s no exaggeration to say that finding and establishing a working relationship with a good travel agency can be the single most efficient way to make the most of your travel opportunities,” says the publication.
