Delta awarded new slots
The US Department of Transportation has awarded Delta two slots to enable the carrier to offer a daily flight between Washington National Airport and Salt Lake City.
The airline will use a Boeing 757 aircraft for the service.
Delta and six other airlines were competing for the slots that were formerly used by National Airlines for service beyond 1,250-mile service limit.
The DoT said it chose Delta because its large connecting network at Salt Lake City means its service would increase competition in many markets.
Delta and its codeshare partners serve 67 communities from Salt Lake City.
