Delta expands transtlantic routes
Delta Air Lines is to double frequency on its new Gatwick-New York route as part of transatlantic expansion planned for next year.
The carrier is to run two flights a week on the route from April 1, 2007.
Delta will serve Dubai from its Atlanta hub together with new routes to Prague and Vienna from next May.
The airline will also start flights from New York to Shannon, replacing one-stop flights via Dublin; Pisa and Bucharest next summer.
Delta is switching seven Boeing 767-400s from US domestic operations to its international fleet to support the expansion plans.
The planned expansion will give Delta more transatlantic operations than any other US carrier, covering 36 destinations.
