Delta restarting daily Pittsburgh-Paris nonstop flights
After a four-year gap, Delta Air Lines will resume daily non-stop flights from Pittsburgh to Paris for the summer.
Daily service to Paris-Charles de Gaulle operates from June 15 through September 6 and marks the first year of daily flights on the route since 2011.
The service actually kicks off May 10 with five weekly flights and drops back again to five days a week starting September 7 through October 24 after the peak summer period.
Last year Delta operated six weekly flights on the route during peak summer months.
"The demand must be there to justify Delta’s commitment to daily service during the busy summer travel season," said airport spokeswoman JoAnn Jenny.
"We’ve been working closely with Delta and the community to keep the route successful," she added.
"It’s an important economic driver for the region because people don’t just go from here to Paris, they go to Paris and beyond. People are using it as a jumping off point, which it needed to become."
Delta said it is also adding a weekly nonstop flight to Cancun, Mexico, from Pittsburgh on Saturdays beginning June 6.
