Deputy mayor of Paris threatens to ban tourist buses
Tourist buses could be banned from central Paris under a plan unveiled by the city’s deputy mayor.
Emmanuel Grégoire told French newspaper Le Parisien tour buses are unpopular with locals and are ‘no longer welcome’.
He said that, although the situation in Paris is not as critical as other cities, such as Venice or Barcelona, Parisians are concerned about the growing number of tour buses.
He said: "We no longer want tourist buses as they are now, wreaking total anarchy throughout Paris," he said.
"We’ll put in outer-city car parks, so that buses stop coming into Paris. They will no longer be welcome in the inner city."
He added that visitors should make do with public transport like everyone else and suggested tour guides branch out into running cycle tours or leading walking groups with audio guides.
