Disney apologizes for Skyliner mishap
Walt Disney Co responded with an apology to guests for last weekend’s Skyliner ‘nightmare,’ but has not yet committed to a reopening date.
Riders were stuck for hours in one of the Skyliner cars on Saturday night, and it remains temporarily closed.
"We have a team diligently looking into the cause of Saturday’s malfunction on the Epcot line of the Disney Skyliner. We have been in contact with the guests, many of whom were on the Skyliner for more than three hours until we were able to restart the system," a Disney statement said.
"We express our sincere apologies for the inconvenience and continue to work with each guest individually."
The new aerial cable car system only opened days before.
It covers six miles and five stations which connect Walt Disney World’s resorts with Hollywood Studios and the International Gateway at Epcot Center.
The company said no injuries were reported although Reedy Creek Emergency Services said three people asked for and received medical treatment and were released from hospital after a short time.
