Disney cruises to return to Mediterranean
Disney Cruise Line has confirmed that it will return to the Mediterranean next year with its ship Disney Magic operating four, seven and 14-day cruises from Barcelona.
The 1,750 passenger vessel will be based in New York this year but the arrival of the newer, Disney Fantasy next March will free up the older vessel to return to the UK.
It will operate cruises from Barcelona calling at Villefranche (for excursions to Nice and Monte Carlo), La Spezia (Florence), Civitavecchia (Rome) and Naples on its week-long trips starting on June 1.
Longer 12-night cruises will also stop at Athens,Ephesus, Mykoos and Malta, or Venice and Dubrovnik.
There will also be a selection of four-night cruises in July and August visiting Villefranche and Majorca.
Magic’s sister ship, Disney Wonder, will be based in Miami from December 2012 to May 2013, when it will return to Vancouver, from where it will operate voyages to Alaska.
Disney, whose Caribbean cruises usually depart from Port Canaveral – an easy hour’s drive from the theme parks of Orlando – has also announced that Magic’s sister ship Disney Wonder will be based in Miami from December this year through to May 2013 when it will return to Alaska from Vancouver.
