DIY Holiday Disaster stories
May I, through the pages of your site, ask for feedback from our travel agency colleagues, for stories of customers’ internet DIY holiday arrangements that have gone wrong. I am trying to compile a collection of stories of woe, funny tales or simply just disasters that have befallen customers who decided to “go it alone” and make their own arrangements via the internet. There must be many – we’ve had our own fair share; such as the customer who wanted to go to San Diego but booked Santiago; Another who went to Mojacar thinking it was Majorca; The lady who asked us for a quote for a direct flight from Manchester to Washington. When we told her there were no direct flights, she said she’d seen one on the internet and gone ahead and booked it – from Manchester in New Hampshire! There must be many more and I’m sure that my agency colleagues out there have a tale to tell. I am trying to compile the list for an article that I have been asked to write for a local newspaper and any contributions that any reader wishes to make would be very well received. You can e-mail your stories to [email protected] Thanks in advance…
