Dolphin adds three more carriers
Agents using FlightScanner will now be able to search fares from the two German no-frills carriers based at Cologne/Bonn airport, and a third German carrier from next week.
Dolphin Dynamics, the developer of FlightScanner has added Germanwings and Hapag-Lloyd Express to the web fares search engine. Dolphin president, Roberto Da Re (pictured), revealed exclusively to TravelMole that regional carrier, Air Berlin would also be on the system from next week. He added that Dolphin would be announcing more European carriers next month.
Dolphin claims that 3,000 agents have signed up to FlightScanner, which is currently free to use, but as quoted by TravelMole last month, Mr Da Re said Dolphin intends to start charging for FlightScanner on a monthly subscription basis. He said this will go ahead in February, in addition to further announcements about a new version of FlightScanner and extra functionality.
Nearly two thirds of the agents signed up are UK based, who use the system to search fares from Aer Lingus, bmibaby, British Airways, Buzz, easyJet, MyTravelLite, Sterling and Virgin Express.
Germanwings flies out of its base at Cologne/Bonn to Paris, Zurich, Milan, Madrid, London Stansted, Nice, Barcelona, Rome, Berlin, Vienna, and Istanbul and is adding Venice, Thessaloniki, Prague, Lisbon, Izmir, Edinburgh, Dresden, and Bologna at the end of March.
Hapag-Lloyd Express offers 13 routes out of its base at Cologne/Bonn to Berlin, London Luton, Milan, Hamburg, Madrid, Naples, Pisa, Barcelona, Manchester, Marseille, Rome, Venice, and Valencia, and offers three routes out of its second hub at Hanover; to Nice, Rome, and Venice.
Air Berlin flies to destinations in Germany, the Mediterranean, the Balaeric Islands, North Africa, the Canary Islands, and elsewhere in Europe.
