CAIRNS – In a boost for Tropical North Queensland, Continental Airlines will continue its four weekly connecting flights linking Japan and Cairns via Guam after October 1.

In April, Continental provisionally increased the weekly number of flights on Guam-Cairns routes from two to four. The decision to continue offering the service was made after the increased number of flights produced strong business results, indicating healthy demand.

By continuing the four weekly flights linking Guam and Cairns, Continental is able to offer same-day connections in Guam with flights to and from eight Japanese cities – Sapporo, Sendai, Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Okayama, Hiroshima and Fukuoka

Cairns is also padding up for this week’s India Mega Famil and Workshop (IMFW) on the Gold Coast with Australian cricket’s fast bowling great, Michael Kasprowicz, appearing on the Cairns & Great Barrier Reef stand.
.
Travel buyers from 93 wholesalers and retailers in India are attending IMFW to update their knowledge of Australian tourism products.

Tourism Tropical North Queensland CEO, Rob Giason said, “Holiday visitors from India accounted for more than 30,000 room nights in Cairns & Great Barrier Reef Region last year.

“To keep focus on our region 15 local tourism operators are attending IMFW, and as a bonus for the world’s greatest cricket enthusiasts, Michael Kasprowicz will be sharing the TTNQ booth.”

Around one third of the travel buyers have chosen Cairns & Great Barrier Reef region as their famil option for the event.
