Dreamliner about to come true for United, Qatar
United Airlines, the North American launch customer for the much-delayed Boeing Dreamliner, is scheduled to take delivery of its first 787 aircraft in late September.
The cabin being installed on the first aircraft will be configured with 36 seats in United BusinessFirst, 72 seats in United Economy Plus and 111 seats in United Economy.
United is planning to place five Boeing 787s into service in 2012, and has firm orders for a total of 50 new Dreamliners, with deliveries scheduled through 2019.
United this week announced new routes, including a daily year-round service between its hub at San Francisco International Airport and Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport in Taipei, starting April 9, 2013.
Meanwhile, Qatar Airways has unveiled its first Dreamliner 787 aircraft at the Farnborough Air Show this week.
Qatar is set to launch the first Dreamliner services to and from the UK on the Heathrow-Doha route.
