East Asia cruise alliance unveiled
Taiwan, the Philippines and South Korean have signed an agreement to form a new Asia cruise taskforce.
The Asia Archipelago Cruise Alliance hopes to develop cruise tourism in Asia.
The letter of intent was signed by Taiwan’s Maritime and Port Bureau, the Korea International Cruise Research Institute and the Philippines’ Maritime Industry Authority.
The focus is to attract more international cruise lines to the region.
They want to attract longer cruises for more comprehensive island-hopping itineraries.
Japan is considering joining the alliance soon.
It will integrate Asia cruise tourism marketing and other resources to promote the region.
Several cruise lines including Ponant and Italy’s Costa Cruises will make calls or homeport in Taiwan from March.
