Easyjet cancels flights to Sharm from Manchester, Luton and Gatwick
EasyJet has suspended all flights to Sharm this summer from Manchester, Luton and Gatwick.
However, the airline will resume flights to the Red Sea resort from Stansted from May 29, assuming the Government gives the go ahead.
All flights between the UK and Sharm have been suspended since November 4 on the advice of the UK Government after a bomb was smuggled onto a Russian holiday flight at the Egyptian airport.
Like other airlines, easyJet is waiting for the Government to give the go ahead for flights to resume, but today a spokesman said: "Due to the reduced demand the suspension of flights has caused, easyJet has now taken the decision to cancel flights to Sharm for the rest of this summer from Manchester, Luton and Gatwick.
"As we expect there still to be some demand from people across the UK to fly to Sharm this summer we are planning to operate our twice weekly flights scheduled to Sharm from London Stansted airport.
"We have no confirmation from the UK Government that we will be able to resume flights yet, but if we are these will be the only easyJet flights to Sharm el-Sheikh this summer.
"These flights are scheduled to operate from 29 May 2016."
Passengers due to travel on cancelled flights can switch the value of their booking to any other destination on the easyJet network, it said, or receive a refund or transfer to a flight from Stansted.
Assuming the Government’s travel advice does change, easyJet expects to resume services from Manchester, Luton and Gatwick from the beginning of the winter season in October 2016.
