easyJet launches ‘lightweight’ seats and trollies to save fuel
easyJet plans to improve its efficiency with new lightweight seats and trollies on all flights.
The new Recaro seats – which claim to be 26% lighter – will be fitted to all of the 14 new aircraft being delivered between now and the end of the summer.
The airline says the changes will improve fuel efficiency and reduced CO2 emissions.
Sharklets will also be put on new planes which is an enlarged wing tip to make the wing more efficient.
The new lightweight trolleys will be used on all easyJet aircraft from April 2013.
Commenting on the new Recaro seats, Carolyn McCall, CEO of easyJet said: "As well as the fuel savings we really believe that passengers will notice the difference of the new, ergonomically designed seat which provides more space for passengers."
