EasyJet still bending it like Beckham
Carrier defies star’s management company with another cheeky advert
The no-frills carrier EasyJet has launched another advertisement poking fun at soccer star David Beckham, despite warnings from the player’s lawyers and management company.
The new advert features a picture of the (currently) Manchester United star with the caption: “Not sure where to go this summer? Barcelona? Madrid? Milan? Lowest fares to the hottest cities.”
The advertisement comes hot on the heels of another poking fun at Beckham; the last one featured a photo of Beckham’s much-derided plait hairstyle and the strapline: “Hair today – gone tomorrow?”.
Beckham’s management company SFX responded to the last advert with a call for EasyJet to donate £10,000 to the children’s charity NSPCC; EasyJet responded by agreeing to donate the money as long as Beckham stumped up the same amount himself.
A spokesman quipped to Guardian Unlimited: “We are still prepared to pay the £20,000 if he does. And we would like to offer David and his family a free flight to Barcelona, Madrid or Milan.”
