Elite seeks new g-m as Cowley stands down
Paul Cowley has stepped down as general manager of the Elite Travel Group following the death of his father.
He has relinquished his role shortly after the agency consortium changed its name from Midconsort Elite.
The consortium’s chairman Neil Basnett said it was a “very regrettable” situation but an announcement will be made very shortly in relation to the new general manager.
He said: “Paul has recently gone through a period where he has had to devote much of his time to his family owing to the sad and unexpected loss of his father.
“He feels therefore that, out of allegiance to his family and also as a result of the distances he is having to travel each day from his home in Sheffield to Birmingham, that it is in everybody’s best interests for him to be able to devote time to his family and for the consortium to find somebody else to take on the sometimes very onerous duties as general manager.”
After time with his family, Cowley then wishes to be able to further his various interests in other sectors of the travel industry and retailing in general, Basnett added.
