Emirates A380 for Melbourne and Auckland

Monday, 22 Dec, 2011 0

Emirates will fly an A380 daily service into Melbourne from Dubai and onto Auckland from October next year.

The 480-seat Airbus A380 will replace the 350-seat Boeing 777 that Emirates presently uses on the direct route.

Emirates vice-president Australasia Barry Brown said today the experience in Sydney, where Emirates has operated an A380 service since last year, had shown passengers made booking the aircraft a priority.

“It is the state-of-the art aircraft and people flock to experience flying on it,” he said.

Qantas, which will boost A380 services into Melbourne covering its Pacific and European routes to 14 a week from January, has been flying the aircraft into Tullamarine since 2008.

Singapore Airlines has been flying A380s into Melbourne since 2009.
