Emirates plane turns back after ‘flashes of light’ from engine
An Emirates A380 plane was forced to turn back just after take-off when passengers said they saw flashes of light coming from the engine.
The flight which left Sydney airport bound for Dubai yesterday turned back after 20 minutes.
Passengers said there was a loud bang and flashes of light could be seen out of the window.
Emirates told Sky News Australia that an engine fault was to blame for the incident and it apologised for any inconvenience to passengers.
It said the pilot contacted ground crew at Sydney Airport and a decision was made to dump fuel and turn back.
Passengers were re-booked on alternative flights.
