ETC Director wins award
Rob Franklin OBE, Executive Director of the Brussels based European Travel Commission, and former Regional Director of the British Tourist Authority for Asia Pacific, including Australia, has been awarded the prestigious annual European Tourism Gold Star Award by the members of the European Travel Press (ETP).
At a ceremony conducted during Salon de Vacances in Brussels, Mr. Salvador Alves Dias, President of the European Travel Press, presented the award to Rob.
Ron said, “I am honored and delighted to receive this award from the members of the European Travel Press today, in recognition of the work that has been done by the European Travel Commission.” “We are a small professional team, and each one of them deserves much of the credit for the achievement of our goals.” “I therefore accept on behalf of all of them as well”.
The ETC is an association of National Tourism Organisations (NTOs), created in 1948 to promote Europe as a tourism destination to the long-haul markets outside Europe, originally in the USA and later in Canada, Latin America and Asia and at one time Austrlaia, but not currently.
ETC currently has 37 member NTOs, including 10 from outside the European Union. and is an independent body which is financed entirely by annual membership contributions and partnership funding.
