Etihad introduces Diamond First Class service

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has announced plans to introduce Queenslanders to a new level of full service luxury, revealing it will soon be offering Diamond First class travel as part of its three times a week Brisbane service.

The introduction of Diamond First class from March 31 2008 follows the successful launch of services to Brisbane in September this year. Etihad has received increasing demand for the premium service for passengers travelling to popular destinations such as London, Milan, Abu Dhabi and Dublin.

Cramer Ball, Etihad Airways’ country manager, said: “As the world’s fastest growing full service airline we are delighted to be able to offer our Queensland passengers a superior in-flight experience with the introduction of Diamond First class.”

“In addition to a host of convenient connections to Europe and the Middle East, this premium service offers a luxurious environment, designed to offers privacy, state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment and a world class menu, all to ensure the flight is a relaxing and enjoyable experience.”

Etihad Airways currently operates a two cabin Airbus A330-200 aircraft, which will be replaced by the A340-600 when the Diamond First Class services are introduced in March 2008. The Airbus A340-600 is configured to carry 286 passengers with 12 first class, 30 business class and 244 seats in economy.

Passengers travelling in Diamond First Class can look forward to:-

Individual cabins arranged in four abreast seating 1-2-1

The Diamond First Class seat has a seat pitch of 6’ 8” and transforms into a 180° flat bed.

Seats swivel around 180°towards the aisle

Each seat is self contained and includes:

A foldable 23” personal LCD video screen

Individual deployable privacy shells

6-way movement headrest

Fully electrically-operated backrest, armrest, leg rest and footrest to relax

Pneumatic lumbar support and a built-in massage facility

Individual reading light and desk lamp, as well as mini bar, coat hanger and personal stowage

Meal table: foldable, sliding, swivelling, and with integrated personal mirror

Laptop power supply, USB port & RCA jack

Each seat has direct access to the aisle, allowing Guests to move freely around the aircraft without disturbing other guests

Diamond First Class Guests can socialise in the elegant lounge located at the front of the aircraft, which is equipped with a bar and seating area

The airline currently has a number of European Early Bird fares on offer for Coral Economy Class, Pearl Business Class and Diamond First class. Diamond First class fares from Brisbane to Dublin, start from $8112 including all taxes, levies and surcharges correct at 15 October 2007.
