Etihad Airways has won two accolades at the Pan Arab Web Awards, which were held at a ceremony at Dubai’s Burj Al Arab last week.
The Abu Dhabi-based airline, which recently commenced services to Australia won the “Best Online Strategy Award” and “Best International Standards Award.”
The event focused on Arabic web design was set up to promote creativity, intellectual property rights (IPR) awareness and higher standards in the region, with the jury comprised of experts in the field of web design and awards being presented in 16 categories for Arab companies including financial institutions, government organisations, health services, media and international organisations.
Etihad’s website was completely revamped and relaunched in September 2006 as part of its online strategy and the site now has more than 120,000 registered members after a little more than half a year in operation.
Peter Baumgartner, Executive Vice President of Marketing & Product for Etihad said, “These awards confirm that our chosen strategy is successful and equally recognised by consumer and industry experts”
The awards was set up by the Business Software Alliance (BSA), the international association established by the software industry to promote a safe and legal digital world, in association with the Arab Web Awards committee.
Pierre Moukarzel, Chairman, Pan Arab Web Awards Committee said, “In the Digital Age where websites are used by many companies, aspects such as layout and user-friendliness are crucial to projecting a positive image of the owning company.”
“By establishing the Awards, we are aiming to protect creativity and showcase innovation in addition to promoting ICT adoption by raising the standards of company websites and encouraging people to use online resources”.
“Great minds build great projects and these Awards will help to establish new professional and international standards of excellence in web design by attracting the interest of many web designers and domain owners from all over the region.”
Etihad Airways has been awarded the titles of the World’s Leading New Airline in 2004, 2005 and 2006, and the World’s Leading Flat-Bed Seat in 2006 by the World Travel Awards.
