Evacuations begin as Hurricane Earl approaches US coast
The East Coast of America has begun evacuations in preparation for the arrival of Hurricane Earl.
According to BBC reports, the hurricane has once again strengthened to a category four storm with wind speeds of 135mph.
A hurricane warning has been issued for the east coast of the US from Bogue Inlet to the North Carolina/Virginia border, including the Pamlico and Albemarle sounds.
North Carolina has declared a state of emergency and thousands of people have been ordered to leave Ocracoke Island and Hatteras Island, both popular with tourists.
The hurricane is being followed by two tropical storms – Fiona and Gaston.
