Ex-Thomas Cook director joins Minoan
Glasgow-based Minoan has confirmed that Thomas Cook’s former UK purchasing director Philip Poile has joined the operator to help find hotel partners for its proposed luxury resort in Crete.
Poile, who left Thomas Cook last January after 10 years with the company, began working with Minoan last November as commercial director designate hotels division.
His appointment was confirmed today to the London Stock Exchange, when Minoan also announced the retirement of group finance director Barry Barman.
Bartman, aged 72, will remain on the Board as a non-executive director.
Minoan said Poile’s role within the Group will include, but not be limited to, advising on the potential strategic hotel partners for the Crete project and the exploration of other hotel opportunities in Greece.
The strategic environmental assessment for the group’s multi-hotel resort development in Crete is now available for public consultation until at least the end of March 31.
Minoan is hoping to build a 1,900-bed hotel and leisure development with several hotels and sports and cultural facilities on site.
