The government shutdown has continued to upend air travel.

The FAA issued a temporary ground stop on flights to Nashville International Airport yesterday as air traffic control centers face ongoing staff shortages.

The FAA issued a brief ground stop at Nashville citing ‘staffing issues’.

Later, departures were preemptively delayed to it the number of flights in its airspace due to staff shortages.

During this time, Nashville flight delays were on average over two hours.

The flight disruption lasted for several hours.

“If we don’t have controllers, we’re going to make sure the airspace is safe. So what we do is we’ll slow traffic,” Duffy said in an interview on Fox.

Nationwide, more than 3,000 flights were delayed yesterday.

This included a quarter of all flights at Nashville.
