Face-to-face business is fading
Business people are traveling less these days, according to a new survey.
Nearly half of those polled said they traveled for work less frequently then they did five years ago, according to Robert Half Management Resources.
Only 15% of the 972 men and women in the poll said they were traveling more often.
“Companies that scaled back travel allowances over the past several years continue to closely monitor expenses despite an improving economy,” said Paul McDonald, executive director of Robert Half Management Resources.
He said businesses are also more inclined to use less-costly communication methods such as Web casts.
Mr McDonald warned that while virtual interaction saves time and money, if often can’t replace face-to-face meetings.
