Family of Ian Derbyshire sets up crowdfunding page
A JustGiving appeal to raise £1,000 for the care home that looked after Ian Derbyshire has already hit its target – with more donations coming in.
The family of former Thomas Cook director Ian, who died last week, is raising money for Cleveland House, in Southport, Lancashire, where he was looked after.
Ian’s family has also used the crowdfunding page to give details of his funeral and has asked attendees to donate to Cleveland House rather than send flowers.
Introducing the JustGiving page, the family said: "Cleveland House has been truly outstanding in helping care for Ian Derbyshire over the past two years.
"Since suffering from a brain haemorrhage in 2014 Ian’s overall care has been amazing. They treated him with the highest amount of care, respect and dignity until the very end.
"The incredible support we have received as a family by every single member of the team involved with Cleveland House has been exceptional. Towards to end of Ian’s life they accommodated us with open arms and comfort to the highest degree. From providing us all with food, warmth and emotional TLC to helping Ian pass peacefully.
"Without the dedicated staff at Cleveland House, we as a family would not have been able to get through the past couple of years. We felt safe in the knowledge that every day when we left that Ian was in good hands and lovingly cared for."
Industry colleagues are invited to attend Ian’s celebration of life on January 5 at Landican Crematorium South Chapel, Wirral, at 12.30pm.
