Finnair to add extra flight from Heathrow

Finnair will add an extra daily flight to its London Heathrow to Helsinki service for the summer.

Starting on March 31, the additional flights will boost capacity by more than 20% a day.

In addition, Finnair will further increase its capacity on the London route by replacing its single aisle A320 flights with a wide-bodied Airbus A330, offering more seats and greater comfort.

During the upcoming summer season, Finnair will operate up to seven daily flights between London and Helsinki, including two wide-bodied aircraft.

Christian Lesjak, Finnair senior VP, network and resource management, said: "Finnair’s presence in London and in the UK has been growing steadily over the past few years and we are pleased to add capacity on this important route.

"By adding the new midday frequency and flying an additional wide-body aircraft on the route, we will be able to offer even more flexibility and network connections for our customers."

The A330 will operate on the departing 16:00 service from Helsinki to London, and the returning 18:10 flight from London to Helsinki, providing an additional 50 seats per flight.

Finnair’s new midday flight will depart Helsinki at 11:40, with the return flight departing from London at 13:50.
