First Choice looking for US expansion
First Choice Holidays PLC, the Britain-based tour company that is expanding its US presence, named Jerre Fuqua to head up its operations in America.
First Choice previously broadened its base by acquiring the Los Angeles-based YMT Vacations.
YMT offers US tours to people in the 55 to 75 year age bracket, which it calls the “baby boomers to seniors market.” The company says this is the highest growth demographic of the US population.
YMT, founded in 1967, offers close to 15 different itineraries throughout the year. Its escorted tours focus on classic American destinations such as Alaska and the Canadian Rockies.
Companies under the control of First Choice include Travcoa, Intrav, Country Walkers, TCS Expeditions, International Expeditions and Park East.
The First Choice Holidays Group operates from 17 major markets and has eight million customers.
