First retrofitted Emirates A380 takes flight
The first Emirates A380 superjumbo to be completely retrofitted has entered service.
It is the first under the airline’s $2 billion retrofit program.
The plane flew the Dubai-London Heathrow service, operating as EK003.
It is the first of 120 Emirates aircraft to be refurbished.
President Sir Tim Clark said: “The spacious A380 will look and feel even more impressive and comfortable.”
The refreshed Emirates A380 features latest products and interiors across all cabins.
On the upper deck, First and Business Class seats sport the latest cream leather upholstery.
By 2024, all 67 A380s assigned for refurbishment will have returned to service.
Emirates will then begin work on 53 Boeing 777s earmarked for this project.
The airline expects to complete the program in 2025.
