Five killed in Ukraine plane crash
At least five people have been killed in a plane crash in the Ukraine.
The internal charter flight, which was carrying football fans, caught fire when it attempted an emergency landing in the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk.
It was travelling from the Black Sea resort of Odessa with more than 40 people on board when it overshot the runway at Donetsk airport.
Most of those on board managed to escape, but there have been at least five fatalities and 12 injured, according to the BBC.
The football fans had been on their way to a Champions League match in the city between Shakhtar Donetsk and Germany’s Borussia Dortmund.
A number of politicians and businessmen from the Odessa region were on board.
A minute’s silence was held before the game.
According to local reports, the aircraft was operated by Odessa-based Pivdenni Avialinii (South Airlines).
