Five more airlines added to TSA PreCheck
Another five airlines have joined the Transportation Security Administration’s PreCheck expedited screening program.
Austrian Airlines, PAL Express, VivaAerobus, Interjet and Canadian LCC Swoop have joined taking the number to domestic and international carriers to 72.
WestJet backed Swoop offers low fare travel from Canadian cities to warm weather destinations in the US including Orlando and Las Vegas.
It also serves Mexico and the Caribbean.
TSA PreCheck allows travelers to pass through security quicker without removing shoes, laptops, liquids, jackets and belts.
It is available at more than 200 US airports.
Travelers are required to attend an in-person interview and pay a $85 registration fee which is good for five years.
TSA officials are currently looking at ways to streamline the registration process to help boost numbers.
The TSA says 94% of PreCheck designated travelers wait less than five minutes to pass through security screening.
