Flight Centre raises entrant salaries

Wednesday, 24 Jun, 2010 0

Industry entrants applying to Flight Centre will be looking at basic £18,000 salaries after the company boosted the figure by £6000.

The move is part of the agency’s aim to attract and retain quality offline staff. With commission, the figure could be around £25,000.

Managing director Chris Galanty said that it took time for agents to become high achieving in their job, which is when they earn more money, so it was only fair to give them a decent salary straight away.

He added: “If you’re going to be a serious offline player in travel, you’ve got to be good at staff retention, so higher starting salaries will help this.”

The company is currently advertising for staff across a series of online job sites.
