Florida on track for another record year of arrivals
It’s been another banner year so far for Florida’s tourism industry despite a spate of natural disasters.
Outgoing Florida Gov. Rick Scott announced a total of 95.8 million visitors so far in the first nine months of 2018.
"Florida’s tourism industry is continuing to set records to help our state’s economic growth," said Scott.
"Since December 2010, Florida has welcomed a record number of travelers for 27 quarters and had seven consecutive years of record visitation and visitor spending."
Q3 saw an estimated 30.7 million visitors, up by more than 10%.
It included 2.7 million overseas visitors and 490,000 Canadian travelers.
It shows that 2018 is shaping up to be the most robust year for travel to Florida ever," Scott added.
Tourism officials are confident 2018 will surpass last year’s full-year total of 118.8 million visitors.
State tourism marketing agency Visit Florida says the industry supports about 1.4 million jobs statewide.
