Flybe offers agents new web-based services
A range of services for travel agents’ websites are being introduced by Flybe, including a fully automated search and e-commerce booking feed.
The airline is using industry-standard API format, meaning an agent can plug the web service into their website to gain access to the flight inventory available on www.flybe.com.
Claiming a first in the aviation industry, Flybe has developed a similar programme to that used by online giants such as Amazon and eBay.
Three web services are available:
* Routes: detailing Flybe’s available routes
* Flight Search: fare availability as found on www.flybe.com
* Flight Booking: seat and baggage booking web service
The airline’s head of sales Stephen Hobday said: “Using the system we’re able to offer access to our best published fares directly to agents’ systems.
“Even better, this excellent service is completely free. We’re determined to offer the best distribution to ease the booking process for our partners and expect web services to become one of the distribution service of choice as more and more airlines following Flybe’s lead.”
