Four pilots suspended after airport collision
An airport taxiway mishap has landed four Vietnam Airlines pilots in suspension.
Two aircraft collided at Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport.
The two pilots on each flight were suspended pending an investigation.
The Dreamliner’s right wing hit the stationary Airbus A321, which was preparing for departure.
Both aircraft were grounded for checks, with both displaying physical signs of minor damage.
Vietnam Airlines deployed replacement aircraft for both flights to accommodate nearly 400 passengers.
The airline opened an investigation alongside an official Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam probe.
Initial findings suggest the stationary Airbus jet may have been in the wrong holding point position on the taxiway.
