Fugitive Kingfisher Airlines founder sentenced to prison
The founder of long defunct Kingfisher Airlines Vijay Mallya has been sentenced to four months in jail.
He was found guilty of contempt of court by India’s Supreme Court, relating to the collapse of the airline.
It was once India’s second largest airline.
However, he won’t serve time as he remains in London fighting extradition.
He fled justice after defaulting on debts of more than $1bn
In 2020, Mallya lost his final appeal against extradition at the High Court in London.
