Galileo agents reap benefits
Galileo has launched a series of extra services and benefits for UK and Ireland agents. The scheme, called Preferred Partners (P3) launched on 1 December. Regional director UK and Ireland, Alison Bell told TravelMole: “This is just the start of Galileo benefiting from Cendant’s buying power and what we have here is the opportunity for agents to start plugging the revenue gaps that have been appearing.” Among P3 benefits, specific to Galileo, are mobile phone and Blackberry rental at preferential rates through Hirefone, access to 3,500 resorts including commission opportunities and special rates through the RCI Holiday Network, and negotiated prices on office products through Lyreco. Ms Bell told TravelMole: “One of the most popular features will be the RCI Holiday Network access, which is one of the most obvious benefits, and something agents have been asking about for quite a while.” Agents can connect to P3 through Galileo. Ms Bell said she thought agents would start using it immediately. “The agents are very savvy, and they are searching the web a lot anyway. As it becomes familiar and they see the value of it, it won’t be a big issue starting to use it. “There will be a number of other deals in P3; we have a team of people working with third parties on this, but nothing will be announced until the new year” she added. Galileo operates a similar scheme in the US, called Business Builders, but Ms Bell says the GDS has catered the product differently to different markets. She said P3 would also be adapted before launching in the rest of the EMEA region in next year.
