Garuda to hub out of Makassar
Garuda Indonesia will fly from Makassar, its latest hub to 13 domestic and international destinations.
Garuda president & CEO, Emirsyah Satar said Makassar was becoming an important business location “and has always been a strategic point in the eastern regions of the archipelagoâ€.
The launch of Makassar as Garuda’s third hub, after Jakarta and Denpasar, comes as the government develops the Sulawesi Economic Corridor to access the growing markets in East Asia, Australia and America.
The new routes link Makassar with Ambon, Balikpapan, Biak, Denpasar, Jakarta, Jayapura, Palu, Surabaya, Gorontalo, Manado, Ternate, Timika, and Singapore.
In the international sector, Garuda recently added more flight frequencies on the Jakarta – Beijing route, from three flights to five flights per week; and on the Denpasar – Seoul service, also from three flights to five flights per week.
