GDSs still key distribution channel for hotels

Macdonald Hotels and Resorts has gone live on both Amadeus and Worldspan in a bid to boost GDS bookings.

The UK hotel operator is now bookable on all four systems, and says this is the key to growing its GDS business.

Marketing director Tony Seaman, said: “It was important for us to be seamless on all GDS systems as travel agents prefer to book through this method. Also, they get better room and rate descriptions back, in real-time availability.”

Macdonald Hotels and Resorts GDS chain code is ‘GB’. The group has more than 60 hotels in the UK including many with extensive meetings and conference facilities as well as spa and fitness centres.
