Germany gets ready for the Ski World Cup

In May 2006, Germany learnt that after a gap of 33 years it will host the 2011 FIS Alpine Ski World Cup. Preparations for this major sporting event have begun in earnest at the famous winter sport town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. For more information visit http://www.garmisch-partenkirchen.de/

To celebrate the 800th anniversary of the birth of Saint Elisabeth – one of the most important women in Europe in the Middle Ages – the Free State of Thuringia is holding its 3rd Regional Exhibition from 7 July to 19 November 2007. The Federal Garden Show is set to be the main attraction for people visiting Thuringia in 2007. There are two contrasting exhibition areas in Ronneburg and Gera, a daily programme of events in both locations and an imaginatively staged exhibition of garden art that covers 75 hectares.
