Get behind Korean inbound tour operators’ code of conduct says Minister Fran Bailey
Speaking at the launch of a new voluntary code of conduct Australian Federal Government Tourism Minister Fran Bailey [pictured right with the Korean delegation, Peter Doggett of Warner Theme Parks and a friendly Koala] urged the industry to get behind it saying that for businesses that specialise in the Korean market, the Code of Conduct outlines a quality conscious approach to tour conduct, adding, “This Code will ensure value for money experiences for Koran visitors to Australia and place Australia at the forefront of quality tourism destinations amongst outbound Korean travellers.”
The Minister said, “The Code was developed through the dedication of a number of people here today from KITOCA, the Korean Inbound Tour Operators Australia, including the Chair of the Korean Action Plan Implementation Group, Mr Peter Doggett, International Relationship Manager with Warner Village Theme Parks and it will ensure that visitors to Australia from Korea will have the very best, professional and value for money experiences.”
She added, KITOCA have show commendable leadership in developing the code and I hope that all Australian and Korean industry representatives here today will support KITOCA in their efforts to implement the Code.”
The South Korean market to Australia contributes $1.1 billion to the Australian economy and the market is expected to grow to more than 400,000 visitors by 2015 with a value of more than $1.5 billion.
Fran Bailey said, “We can meet these predictions and even exceed them, if we put in place measures such as the Code of Conduct maximising the quality of Korean visitors’ experience in Australia.”
