Gold Coast Indy is much, much more
Last weekend’s 2007 Lexmark Indy 300 has broken past event records and once again delivered four days of unique fun and Gold Coast Tourism (GCT) made certain some very important people were there to experience it.
The great location, perfect weather and some of the biggest names in international and Australian motorsport drew a best ever crowd of 314,136 to this year’s event, an increase of 2,082.
The Lexmark Indy 300 event is a major showpiece for destination Gold Coast and the state of Queensland, and GCT get full value out of the event by hosting media and corporate delegates during the four days.
“Indy is the perfect demonstration of a large scale event being professionally delivered by our city, and it is done in the unique Gold Coast way – with a real sense of fun,” said GCT CEO Pavan Bhatia.
“Of course it is a great destination marketing asset for us and we promote it throughout the year, but we also bring important media and corporate clients to the event, it is an impressive way to show the city’s technical, infrastructure, services and event management capacity.”
GCT hosted several groups of international media from New Zealand, India, United Kingdom and Japan and corporate decision makers were brought to the region for their influence in the business tourism and leisure markets.
California based The Kliman Group CEO David Kliman said “having seen so much of what the Gold Coast has to offer as a destination, including the impressive Indy 300, we can provide much more informed advice to our clients and business associates when they are seeking the right destination for their next major meeting, exhibition, conference or incentive program.
“Events such as Indy, Magic Millions and VeryGC Global Business Insights really put the Gold Coast on the consideration list for international companies wanting a unique destination to host their own events, as they are well delivered, large scale, globally benchmarked assets which confirm what kind of experience can be delivered by this city,” Mr Kliman said.
