Group travelers choose New York City

New York City, Washington, DC, and Branson, Missouri emerged as travel favorites when the American Bus Association did its “2004 Best and the Rest Survey.”

They were followed by Niagara Falls, and Toronto, Ontario, then Montreal, Quebec.

The survey rated best destinations and cities with the most to offer and the best value for groups.

“North American destinations have it all  —  whether you’re looking for history and civic lessons in Washington, DC; shopping, theater and dining in New York City, or shows and family fun in Branson,” said Peter J. Pantuso, president and CEO of the American Bus Association.

He said there was no surprise over the destinations because group travelers are looking again to places they know and find comforting.

Motorcoach and tour operators also gave high rankings to Charlevoix, Quebec; San Antonio, Texas; and Banff, Alberta.

The group ranked the most popular group activity a trip to the theater, followed by historic/cultural tours, gaming, shopping and festivals.

The top gaming destination was the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn.

Said Mr Pantuso:

“What this survey really shows is the myriad of options for travelers by motorcoach. Whether it’s a day trip, a few days, or longer, people can choose to travel just about anywhere by motorcoach.”
