Growing Peace – Muslims and Christians Together!
It is good to see that Sydney is taking a leadership role in promoting peace and mutual understanding among people, with The City of Sydney hosting a FREE Public Forum on Growing a Culture of Peace at the Sydney Mechanics School of Arts, 280 Pitt St, Sydney (5 minutes from Town Hall Station) on THURSDAY APRIL 10TH 2008 at 7pm.
The aim of the forum is to promote peace and mutual understanding among people, with This free event will feature Christians and Muslims sharing common convictions about peace and non-violence that can inspire people to work towards mutual understanding and so model and promote peace and harmony in society! While ignorance allows prejudice and intolerance to flourish, dialogue and learning foster mutual understanding and harmony.
The speakers will be:
Mr Afroz Ali, al-Ghazzali Centre for Islamic Sciences and Human Development
Mrs Silma Ihram, Education Consultant
Rev Dr Charles Rue, Columban Centre for Peace Ecology and Justice
Ms Chantelle Ogilvie, Young Christian Workers World Youth Day Co-ordinator
Light refreshments will be provided from 6.30pm and afterwards.
The forum is an initiative of the Columban Mission Institute Centres for Peace, Ecology and Justice and Christian-Muslim Relations in partnership with the City of Sydney.
